You roll out the mat on the floor or bed and lie on it, with your back or your feet on it. The dots press into your skin in many places at the same time. It feels sharp for the first few minutes; after that it usually gets warm and you get used to it. You use the pillow under your neck or under your knees. Both roll up into a package.
